    Quicksketch in oil. When painting portraits they usually come out pretty flat because I haven’t considered the structure. This is the first one where I conciously tried to bring out and build around the struture. Also pushing the darks and lights adds to the depth. Painting small and with a relatively large brush helps with not getting too caught in the details. Will try to more of these exercises, long way to go.
