The emphasis of this class will be on painting small heads that will be appropriate for most illustrations and fine art paintings. When producing paintings and portfolio work, many students think that they will be painting heads that are life-sized. In reality, most of the time you will be painting heads that are only 1 to 2 inches across. We will approach this class using oil as a medium and working from artists such as Dean Cornwell, Norman Rockwell, Jean Leon Gerome and Gil Elvgren.  Jeff will demonstrate a painting each week and students will be encouraged to follow along with his guidance. This will be a great class for illustrators and fine artists alike.

These are just recommended materials, but there are plenty of others out there that will work just fine as well.

One final note, this is a general materials list for painting. You will not need very large brushes to do this class since the focus is small heads. For this class specifically, you’ll want a variety of small brushes.
