This class will use demo footage from the Term 4, 2021 Term.
Instructor Critiques for Full Participation Students will be uploaded for viewing approximately one week after each class.

The focus will be on a direct approach to painting the male and female portrait from photo with varied lighting scenarios in angle, source and color. We will work on application, brushmanship, indication, manipulation of edge, value and ultimately color to indicate the head in oil.
When purchasing materials, note that you do not need every brush and size, just get a good variety of small, medium and large brushes in bristle (stiff hair) and sables (soft hair).

Meadow Gist
Meadow Gist has studied and taught at Watts Atelier for the past 15 years. She began her art career in the corporate field painting displays and murals for a major retail chain. Her work has been exhibited as a finalist in the International Artist Magazine’s Still Lifes and Florals Competition 2006 and as a “Top 50” selection at Salon International 2007.
