The focus will be on a direct approach to painting the male and female portrait from life. We will work on application, indication and manipulation of edge, value and ultimately color to indicate the head in oil.

Palette
Recommended Palette: Masterson Sealable Palette.
If desired, you can use just a standard wood or plastic palette instead, but it is more difficult to transport if you have wet paint on it.

- You will need to purchase a piece of 12×16 glass to put in the bottom. Can be bought at Home Depot for cheaper.

Meadow Gist
Meadow Gist has studied and taught at Watts Atelier for the past 15 years. She began her art career in the corporate field painting displays and murals for a major retail chain. Her work has been exhibited as a finalist in the International Artist Magazine’s Still Lifes and Florals Competition 2006 and as a “Top 50” selection at Salon International 2007.
