The results of our first Skill Building Challenge are in…! The winner, who we will announce shortly in this post, will be receiving an original figure drawing (pictured above) by Watts Atelier founder Jeff Watts.

Our Skill Building Challenges are designed as a friendly competition that’s geared towards advancing the participants’ skill base.  Each individual Skill building Challenge (which we refer to as “cycles”) runs for four weeks, with an assignment due at the end of each individual week.   These assignments correlate to our online school’s lessons, and (just like the lessons themselves) are structured in a progressive fashion, which helps to build a students understanding of important concepts.

At the end of the four weeks, our instructors judge the participants, based both on the quality of their last entry and (most importantly) the increase in their skills over the course of the four week cycle.  This being the first Skill Building Challenge of many, It’s only fitting that Watts Atelier founder Jeffrey Watts is the one to judge this cycle.

Without further ado, we’d like to congratulate the winner of our first Watts Atelier Skill Building Challenge….

David:O

David’s hard work and stellar improvement over the course of these four weeks earned him the prize for this cycle in our Skill Building Challenge.  It was a tough judging, with many participants being considered for the prize.  Everyone on the Watts Atelier team was greatly impressed by the turnout, the quality of the work, and dedication put forth by all participants of the Skill Building Challenge .  Please keep your eyes on this blog, where we will announce early next week the details for our Skill Building Challenge, Cycle 2.  We look forward to having an even greater turnout for this next challenge, and we can’t wait to see who will take home the prize next time.

While everyone gears up for cycle 2, please enjoy this look at David’s award-winning pieces for the Skill Building Challenge, Cycle 1.  Congratulations again, David!
