Francesco Fabi

Grader

Francesco Fabi lives in Rome and fell in love with drawing at a young age. He began studying online at the Watts Atelier in 2021 and joined the grading team in 2023.

He has a background in art history (postgraduate studies at the University of Rome – La Sapienza) and previously took a basic illustration course, realising what he was really passionate about was the practical side of visual art.

He enjoys working on figure, portrait, landscape, and animal subjects, with a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of drawing and painting. His main goal is illustration, especially book illustration, with a preference for classic literature, fairy tales, myths and the fantasy and adventure genres. He finds inspiration in American and British Golden Age artists, a variety of book illustrators, late 19th-century painters, contemporary fantasy artists, comic book artists, and cinema. He particularly loves exploring historical costumes and settings. Since joining the Atelier, he has made significant progress, thanks to a supportive learning environment and a serious commitment to growth. He continues to study consistently, always working to sharpen his skills and evolve as an artist.
